David N. Bruce   Dave's diverse background in both public and private practice has given him the opportunity to handle nearly every type of litigation. His record of success both in trial and on appeal demonstrates his ability to identify and communicate his client's winning argument. Before founding Savitt Bruce & Willey, Dave served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Seattle, in the civil division, from 1994 to 1999 and previously as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County, where he tried criminal cases. He is a 1985 graduate, magna cum laude, of the Cornell Law School.

 

Sarah Gohmann Bigelow
Sarah Gohmann Bigelow   Sarah's practice has focused on commercial and bankruptcy litigation in both federal and state courts. She previously practiced at Bryan Cave in Los Angeles, and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas B. Donovan, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. She is a 2006 graduate of the UCLA Law School, where she was Symposium Editor of the UCLA Law Review and Articles Editor for the UCLA Women's Law Journal.

 

Duffy J. Graham
Duffy J. Graham   Duffy has extensive experience representing institutional and individual clients in a wide range of complex civil litigation matters. He is the author of The Consciousness of the Litigator, published by the University of Michigan Press. Duffy previously practiced with Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles, and served as judicial clerk to the Hon. Alan B. Handler of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He is a 1989 graduate of the Yale Law School.

 

Ramer B. Holtan
Ramer B. Holtan   Before joining the firm, Ramer was a partner in Perkins Coie where he practiced for 32 years. Ramer has tried dozens of cases to verdict, and his substantial experience includes trial, arbitration and ADR proceedings involving commercial, corporate and real estate disputes; antitrust, securities and personal injury cases; insurance coverage disputes; and defense of professional liability claims. Ramer's extra-legal experience includes service in the U.S. Army as an artillery officer, on the Board of a defense-oriented technology company, and longtime service on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound. Ramer is a 1972 graduate, magna cum laude, of the University of Illinois College of Law, where he also earned admission to the Order of the Coif.

 

Duncan E. Manville
Duncan E. Manville   Duncan has broad experience handling a variety of complex civil litigation matters at both the trial and appellate levels. Duncan previously was a partner in Riddell Williams in Seattle, and a principal in Rafel Manville PLLC. He serves as President of the board of directors of On the Boards, a contemporary performing arts organization in Seattle's Queen Anne neighborhood, and previously served as pro bono counsel to the Fremont Sunday Market. Duncan began his career as an associate with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in Chicago. He is a 1999 graduate, cum laude, of the University of Chicago Law School.

 

James P. Savitt
James P. Savitt   Jim has earned a reputation as an outstanding strategist and trial lawyer. Before teaming with Dave Bruce, Jim was a partner in Perkins Coie from 1991 to 1999, where he handled major litigation for some of the firm’s largest clients. Jim currently serves as Chairperson of the Pike Place Market Preservation & Development Authority, and as Immediate Past President of the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington.  Jim was previously an associate with Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison in New York, and is a 1983 graduate, magna cum laude, of the Georgetown University Law Center.

 

Michele L. Stephen
Michele L. Stephen   Michele brings her expertise in intellectual property and other complex litigation to the firm from Chicago, where she was a partner in Freeborn & Peters LLP. At Freeborn, Michele was a founder of the Women's Leadership Council and a member of the Electronic Evidence and Litigation practice group. Her track record includes the successful prosecution and defense of trade secret, trademark, copyright and cyberpiracy matters. Michele is a 1999 graduate of the Loyola University Chicago School of Law.

 

Cynthia A. Stross
Cynthia A. Stross   Cynthia has tried scores of jury cases to successful verdict. Prior to joining Savitt Bruce & Willey, she was a trial attorney in the King County Prosecutor's Office from 1996 to 2000, where she handled all aspects of litigation, including investigations and appeals. Cynthia also served as a tribal defender to the Quinault Indian Nation and as law clerk to Justice Alex Bryner, Alaska Court of Appeals. She is a 1994 graduate, cum laude, of the Cornell Law School.

 

Stephen C. Willey
Stephen C. Willey   Steve is an experienced litigator with broad trial, appellate and ADR experience. He began his career at Perkins Coie in Seattle and later practiced with Latham & Watkins in Menlo Park, California, where he focused on complex commercial and intellectual property disputes. Steve has also been in-house as the sole Corporate Counsel for a 100-employee start-up company, where he was responsible for all legal matters, including contracting, corporate finance, and intellectual property enforcement. He is a 1994 graduate, cum laude, of the University of Wisconsin Law School.

 

Miles A. Yanick
Miles A. Yanick   Miles joined the firm in 2007 and became a partner in 2009. His experience includes the successful prosecution and defense of complex commercial, business, and trust and estate disputes. Prior to joining the firm, Miles served as an associate with Davis Wright Tremaine, as an attorney in the Civil Division of the King County Prosecutor's Office, and as law clerk to Judge Carolyn Dimmick of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. He serves on the King County Bar Association's Judicial Screening Committee, and on the board of trustees of the Brightwater School. Miles is a 1996 graduate, magna cum laude, of the University of Michigan Law School.
